Energy audits and energy management for companies.

From 1 January 2027, new requirements are planned for companies that use more than 2.78 GWh of energy a year. Those who prepare during 2026 will be ready when the act enters into force.

What the report looks like

The outcome of the audit is a report management understands: where the energy goes, where the savings are and what they cost. Here is an excerpt from the start of a sample report.

Excerpt from a sample. The figures are fictional – a real report is based on the building's and the company's own data.

Three ways to meet the obligation – we help you choose the right one

Under the EU Energy Efficiency Directive (2023/1791) the obligation can be met by several routes. The right route depends on consumption and on which management systems the company already has.

Energy audit under EKL

2.78 – 23.6 GWh / year

Under the revised EU directive for companies consuming 2.78–23.6 GWh/year; the Swedish act is planned from 1 January 2027, and until then the Act (2014:266) applies to large companies. An audit every four years, led by a certified energy auditor, with proposed measures and reporting to the Swedish Energy Agency.

Energy management system (ISO 50001)

over 23.6 GWh / year

Under the revised EU directive for companies consuming over 23.6 GWh/year; the Swedish act is planned from 1 January 2027. For others, a way to be exempt from the audit requirement. We build the system ready for certification – the certificate is issued by a Swedac-accredited certification body.

ISO 14001 route to the management system obligation

when an environmental management system is already certified

A company consuming over 23.6 GWh per year does not need to build a separate energy management system if it has a certified environmental management system (ISO 14001) and, alongside it, an energy audit meeting the EKL requirements. We prepare the audit within the existing system so that maintenance is not duplicated; the audit itself is led by a certified energy auditor.
